By creating accounts on STEMnet users of the STEMnet website and participants in the programs hosted on the STEMnet agree to the following terms.
Volunteers should understand the core mission of the Maryland Business Roundtable for Education (MBRT) : To bring the voice of business to support high standards, rigorous assessments, and strong accountability in K-12 education and to demonstrate the connection between achievement in school and success in the workplace, in college life and in life. Volunteers are encouraged to share their own education and workplace experiences with teachers and students they engage with in programs hosted on the STEMnet.
The purpose of these policies is to provide overall guidance to volunteers. These policies are intended to provide a clear description of volunteer responsibilities and ensure volunteers give information to students in an appropriate manner. The role of the volunteer is to help raise student awareness of the important connection between achievement in school and success in the workplace and in life. In addition, volunteers motivate students to take learning seriously and begin planning their futures.
Standards, responsibilities and student engagement
This website is the responsibility and property of the Maryland Business Roundtable for Education (MBRT), a not-for-profit charitable organization.
Founded in 1992, the Maryland Business Roundtable for Education (MBRT) is a coalition of more than 100 leading employers that have made a long-term commitment to support education reform and improve student achievement in Maryland. MBRT works to achieve meaningful, measurable and systemic improvement in schools and student achievement. We believe the keys to this improvement are high standards, rigorous assessments, and strong accountability. We have identified the most compelling issues that need to be addressed, and targeted our involvement where we can be most effective. Our objectives are ambitious, but we are convinced that their achievement will result in a brighter future for Maryland -- its business, its citizens, and its children.
The MBRT is a 501(c)(3) organization. Contributions are tax exempt. Current financial statements are available upon request. Information on the MBRT may be obtained from the Secretary of State for the cost of copies and postage.
